Re-opening after Hurricane Florence

During hurricane Florence, my family here in Wilmington, NC all stayed together in my sister’s house. Each day and night that the hurricane lingered over us felt like a long drawn out process with increasing amounts of destruction and flooding. As it weakened, we thanked Jesus for His protection and were able to ride around to check on our community. It was saddening to discover trees crushing homes and major flooding (some areas that were low-lying have been entirely submerged). These circumstances led the men in our family to go out to aid and assist those with damages from the storm and helping salvage anything left. We are praying for all of the families dealing with the effects from hurricane Florence. We are with you and for you in rebuilding the places we call home.

Ever since I opened Tusc, I have prayed for it to be a place of ministry for the women of our city - where love is lavished on every person, where peace dwells and is experienced, where self confidence and care are encouraged, and where joy can be lifted up. With the heartbreaking reality that many are experiencing the effects of the storm, we want to leverage our space and efforts to our city. Through the rest of September, 30% of all our online and instore profits will be donated to Samaritan’s Purse to come alongside of their teams being sent to Wilmington as well as New Bern and Jacksonville, NC. Their volunteer teams are helping affected homeowners by cutting downed trees, clearing debris, tarping roofs, and working on mud-outs. Donations can also be made online directly to Hurricane Florence Relief here.

We are also aware that there will be many adults, children, families, and seniors without daily essentials like clean water, food, and toiletries. We strongly encourage donations to be made to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina - as they serve the Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender Counties. Below are the most needed items that would aid in disaster relief and can be dropped off to the Wilmington Branch - 1314 Marstellar Street Wilmington, NC 28401:

  • High-protein canned meals with pop-top cans (ravioli, soups, spaghetti)
  • Paper goods and products (paper towels/plates/cups/napkins, plastic utensils)
  • Diapers
  • Hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, etc.)
  • Single serving meals that do not require refrigeration or cooking/meals ready to eat
  • Single serving snacks such as raisins & granola bars
  • Peanut Butter
  • Cleaning supplies and disinfectant wipes

If your not able to give please send join with us in prayer for the areas effected by the hurricane... all of the linemen... volunteers... those still in danger... first responders....We know that Jesus is faithful - He doesn't miss a thing!

Love y'all!
